Predator Kills The Marvel Universe – April Graphic Novel of The Month.

Marvel’s series of Predator crossovers reaches it apex in Predator Kills The Marvel Universe. A Predator King, emboldened by a new vibranium arsenal and aided by a surprising human ally, launches an all-out invasion of Earth, claiming the planet as a hunting preserve! After several battles in our solar system — which devastate both the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Fantastic Four — the Predators escalate to the next stage of their war. And the X-Men and the Avengers are at the top of their kill list! Who will survive this extinction-level event as the entire Marvel Universe finds itself in the tri-laser crosshairs of the Predators?!

Benjamin Percy has been working wonders weaving the Predators into the fabric of the Marvel Universe. His Predator vs Wolverine series saw Logan encounter the Predators throughout different points of his life whilst Predator vs Black Panther places one of the alien hunters in a locked down Wakanda on the hunt for vibranium. Predator vs Spider-Man meanwhile is a straight up slasher horror story with Spidey tracking a particularly bloodthirsty Predator – who is on a killing spree – during a heatwave and blackout in New York. Predator Kills The Marvel Universe brings the events of these stories together as Percy presents an epic tale that ups the stakes significantly.

As readers would expect, there is a high body count in this saga. The Predators – alongside Kraven The Hunter acting as their human ally/advisor – go after several of the Marvel Universe’s heaviest hitters with predictably bloody results. The battle against the Fantastic Four is particularly shocking, yet also highlighting the power of The Invisible Woman. Additionally, Percy weaves several elements from his previous Predator series to up the tension including the aforementioned Kraven – who sees the Predators as kindred spirits – and the Weapon X program which has created a Predator/Wolverine hybrid.

Marcelo Ferreira is a great fit when it comes to the art. He has a strong handle on all the various Marvel characters and give them all time to shine (or in some cases to be slaughtered). He has a natural flair for action sequences, and he leans very heavily into the horror aspects of the series which come together for some of the most shocking scenes readers will see featuring Marvel characters. His Predators are also on point with Predator X being particularly memorable.

This is another quality entry in Marvel’s Predator crossover series that will appeal to fans of both franchises. Percy and Ferreira hold nothing back resulting in an all-time epic.
