Bobby Joseph, the current UK Comics Laureate, has continued to celebrate his love of graphic novels and manga by curating another Laureate Library List of Graphic Novels. The list, which Bobby started in 2024, is supported by Arts Council England and is distributed to libraries across the UK, to encourage more people to read graphic novels.
“This year’s list is two-fold, the first being that it is focused predominantly on UK Comic creators (much of the list is as diverse as I could make it), the second being that it is more focused towards the National Year of Reading 2026.”
Turnaround titles have been fortunate to be featured on previous lists and we are delighted to be featured on it again! Here are our titles Bobby Joseph included on this year’s list from our publishers.

Washed-up actors Derek and Alex have been best friends ever since playing teen superheroes ‘Swallow’ and ‘Buzzard’ in the ’90s TV show Power Pals. Wait, you’ve never heard of it? Don’t worry, you’re not alone; it was cancelled after three episodes. But that small taste of fame left them hungry for more, and they’ve been trying to get back on the Hollywood train ever since. After being fired from their studio security jobs and dropped by their agent, the middle-aged pair decide to don their old costumes, and thrust themselves back into the public eye, walking the Hollywood Boulevard alongside the popular cosplayers. When a video of the duo defending tourists from being badgered by a pair of rip-off characters goes viral, the attention inspires them to fight more crime. But when their low-level crime-fighting inadvertently disrupts the plans of a crazed crime boss, their friendship will undergo the ultimate test, and it—or they—may not survive long enough to enjoy their new found fame.

London, The mid-sixties. In what appears to have been a murder attempt, Britain’s greatest pop sensation “Vic Vox” has been left a foot tall — the effects of the ‘shrink drug’ administered by assailants unknown. Detective Chief inspector Ladyshoe and his team at Scotland Yard are out to find who did it, and why, but they are up against the clock. They need to crack the case within the week and return Vox to full-size in time for him to perform as the main act on television’s biggest one-off, live pop show: “Ready For Pop”.

It was a spiderweb moon. And the imps did wonder. What dark delights wouldst the cat-witch conjure. By the Sardine Queen, by salt and the devil, by blackwormy earth, and by the deep, dark sea, the catwitch Urfi conjures an angel to love her and have children with her. But angels aren’t meant for love, and with the embryonic egg of their unborn children, Urfi flees from her partner’s violence, enduring terrible trials to find a new and safe home in the faery forest. As her children, Isobel, Batzel, and Mazel, grow up with her, they find the horrors their mother endured during her flight to the forest returning to their lives — this time for the three of them to defeat for good. With secret magic, solemn bonds of friendship, and sisterhood, they can at last stand against the threat of the angels’ terror and insanity. A gorgeous intergenerational family story of promises made, promises kept, and a mother who would do anything to protect her daughters.
In May 2013 Zara Slattery’s persistent sore throat turned into a deadly bacterial infection, after the paracetamol and ice pack prescribed by her GP failed to work. The world of Zara’s 15-day drug-induced coma, which she describes as “being trapped in a nightmare state that you can’t wake up from” is rendered as a full-colour fantasy, with mythological creatures appearing out of nowhere as she battles to protect her three children against the forces of evil that threaten to engulf her. Meanwhile, her husband Dan tries to keep family life going as he faces the most difficult task of all: preparing the children for the likely loss of their mother.
Hunt Emerson has drawn these pages for Fortean Times magazine since the mid-1980s; they’re about the weird things that happen in the world — Vampires, Ghosts, Faeries, UFOs, Werewolves, Folk Beliefs, Miracles, Mystery Smells, Unknown Animals, Megaliths — all put through his comics filter… well, they make Hunt laugh! Many of the Unexplained Phenomena are based on some sort of documentary evidence. Just as many are invented by Emerson. He loves that marginal world. This book has been a long-term ambition of his: to present a selection of Phenomenomix strips in a luxury comics album. An avalanche of comics, to be ead by the fireside.
